Exciting Summer At ASB

A lot of exciting programs were on offer at the American School of Barcelona for the summer of 2010:

  • ASB's highly regarded intensive Summer English School ran from July 5th to July 30th. This dynamic program runs every summer and is open to English language learners from age three to seventeen. For information about next year's program, or for information about our programs during the school year, see ASB Language School, or contact Richard Sperry (richard@a-s-b.com).

  • Authentic American Summer Camp Experience! A group of students from fourth through seventh grade attended a YMCA camp near Mineapolis in the United States from July 10th to July 25th. The kids lived in cabins on a beautiful  island in a pristine lake. They participated in exciting team building activities with American students such as swimming, fishing, and canoeing. They also learned about the native American Sioux culture.

  • Summer Camp for ASB students from Pre-kinder three (PK3) to sixth grade from June 28th to July 2nd. The camp was a great way for our students to end the year together in a beautiful setting at Can Castellar, in Vallgorguina in the Maresme region outside of Barcelona. Students swam, played educational outdoor games, partook in art projects, and sports, among other activities in Spanish and in English.
  • Workshop for local public school English teachers from July 5th to 9th at ASB. A cooperative effort between ASB and the Generalitat de Catalunya, this workshop allowed almost thirty local public school English teachers from the Esplugues, Sant Joan Despi and Sant Just school districts to sharpen their own English while reflecting on their roles as English teachers. The highly popular and successful workshop was led by two experienced ASB teachers, Febe Bellon, who facilitated the primary school group, and Lindsay McBride, who facilitated the secondary school group. ASB is proud to be an important resource for the local community.
