Elementary School Program

During the five years of Elementary School, the core academic areas of literacy, mathematics, science, social studies and Spanish are combined with the co-curricular subjects of art, music, library, physical education and technology to weave a tapestry of experiences which provide students with multiple perspectives and opportunities for creative thinking. Catalan is also offered to all students and is a requirement for Spanish nationals.

We complement content areas with a variety of components that become an integral part of our school life. Attention is given to essential human values and habits of the mind through teaching and reinforcing skills and disciplines that will help students make sound choices and maintain positive attitudes throughout their lives. Furthermore, some extra support is given for English and Spanish language learners, as well as special needs students.

ASB's diverse student body affords children many occasions to learn from and about different cultures and to develop intercultural competence. Our dynamic Student Council is a vehicle for students to experience the democratic process and take an active role in planning, organizing and administrating various projects to better our community. Field trips are a vital part of our curriculum and provide rich educational experiences and opportunities for students to become familiar with the incredible city of Barcelona. Students also have access to a wide range of extra-curricular, after-school activities in which they can further develop their own intellectual, cultural or athletic pursuits.
